We can all agree that this year’s Super Bowl Sunday is going to be especially different from last year’s. Does this mean we can’t have any fun? Of course not! That’s why we’re here to provide you with easy steps to throw a super safe Super Bowl celebration.
Preplan
If you’re inviting others from different households to your Super Bowl party, the first thing you can do is send invites and have your guests RSVP. Most importantly, make sure to scale down your parties from the usual number of guests you would have at any pre-COVID event. Below are more actions to take before Super Bowl Sunday:
- If weather permits, host the celebration outside
- Remind guests to stay home if they feel sick
- Consider asking guests to get tested a few days before the event
- Encourage people to bring their own food
- Lastly, make sure everybody wears a mask (and have extra on-hand just in-case)
Host Safely
Now that your guests have RSVP’D and the big day has arrived, it’s time to get down to business and social distance according the CDC guidelines!
- Arrange tables and chairs so that people from the same household can sit together but apart from other families
- Provide hand sanitizer and hand-washing areas
- Use single-use paper towels (instead of a shared towel)
- Have one designated person serve food (avoid any self-serve food)
- Use disposable items such as paper plates and cutlery
- If inside, make sure to open doors and windows for proper ventilation
Go Virtual
Depending on the situation, you might not feel comfortable throwing an in-person party. In that case, make it virtual!
- Use Zoom or Google Hangouts to watch the game and virtually drink and eat with friends and loved ones
